Default Content-based website - Suggestions?

I'm hoping to start a content-based website, where articles would be added regularly. The conventional method of editing the existing pages evreytime new content is added might be too difficult once the website has a good amount of content. What'd you suggest? A CMS? A linking strategy to simplify the procedure? Would really appreciate your suggestions.

Thanks.

I recommend either Joomla or Drupal. Both are free and very powerful systems. There's a small learning curve but they are quite easy to use when you get the hang of it.

Thanks Rondo. It's not that I've not explored Joomla or Drupal. Joomla is pretty good, and what with Drupal's new update, it's quite good too.
It's just figuring our which'll work better for my purpose...

It really depends on your content strategy and users types who contribute. Without this it isn't a CMS -- it's a layout management system that stores content.

Ask these questions:

Who would be adding the content ? You want to have a tight control over everything ? A chief Editor will be responsible for the overall style and editorial content ? Or any one who is assigned the responsibility of content creator will be adding the contents ?

A generic CMS will be useful when many people will be adding the content. You will be better off with a custom designed CMS if you or a central authority will be managing the content. A fully developed CMS from the ground up will have the exact features you need.

I found out about Joomla about 2 months ago. I picked up a book by Barrie North, 6 weeks ago along with visiting Joomla.org I setup a local website on my own pc using wampserver a month ago, and have had my first Joomla site almost 3 weeks. Joomla should work just great for what you want to do with it.
