Default Logfiles too big

I have our logfiles set to rotate weekly. However, due to the size they reach each week, webalizer dies, making the analysis die and causing the rotation to stop working.

Does anyone know how to troubleshoot it? It came bundled with plesk, so their stats rely on webalizer working as well.

Have I mentioned I don't like bundled apps?

Brian.

Depending on your set up..

Have you considered:

Setting up a cron job to run webalizer at smaller intervals..then zero out or move the log file after the run?
Or rotate logs more frequently..?
Or not include image files in your log files?

Just some ideas..

Steve

Default Actually...

Actually, after further research I've found that even zeroing all the logfiles on the server still gives me a segmentation fault before the files rotate. Something else must be causing the problem.

Some other things you can do are..

grab a webalizer conf file.. and change the
"quiet" option to NO and
the "ReallyQuiet" option to NO

then run webalizer on your large file..
and see what error(s) comes out..

Also .. back up your webalizer.history and webalizer.current files.. then delete them..
and re-run webalizer..

***

You can always grab the source code and recompile the program. (there are mods posted on the net to prevent certain errors)
