IPad Apps. And Mobile Development For The IPad

So now that the IPad has made it's way into Canada and other parts of the world it seems IPad Apps. is one of the top searched for words this week in the USA according to Google trends.

I'm wondering if marketers of IPad Apps. will need to start creating IPad apps. as well. Will Ipad apps. be able to work with IPad applications?

And about the IPad the creating websites for browsers who use it to browse the internet - will we have to create another website dedicated to IPad users or will they be accessing the regular versions of our websites?

Are they're any IPad / IPod gurus or specialists out there?

Any input into this is highly appreciated.

iPad vs iPod apps - they can be compatible, the main thing is that the app has to be able to handle the different screen sizes. Apps that are designed for the iPod or iPhone may scale up if run on the iPad, or they may not run at all.

Web sites, in general, are going to be accessed just as if they are being accessed by any other alternative browser, so your web site should work, although the site will likely be zoomed out, and if you do not have a fluid layout the site might require a lot of scrolling when the visitor zooms in. Also, it is important to remember that as of right now, the iPad and iPhone are pretty much the only platforms that will never support Flash, so if you are developing with those platforms in mind, you should have alternate content ready.

So now, it seems that the size of the IPad doesn't force us to create a mobile/IPad site in the end. Or am I wrong here?

With respect to IPad Apps. I've got the idea that apps and mobile sites are designed/developed differently - much differently but am I wrong here?

I don't own and IPhone yet so I'm not too sure but I do know creating a mobile site that will render nicely and consistently in most mobile phones has been quite a struggle. I wonder if the IPad app. creators are having the same problems.

I would have thought it would make sense just to use regular sites on such a big device, the only reason a 'm.blah.com' seemed like a good idea to me was because it made the site more easily accessable on a smaller screen like a phone, viewing the net on the ipad kinda defeats the object, there is no need for a 'm.version' on this device.
