Exclamation Still waiting to get listed in Dmoz

I did not get listed in Dmoz after 4 months. It is frustrating and disappointing to try to get listed in Dmoz.

Dmoz is the best human edited directory out there...most reputated..if you get listed there for some keyword..it means your site has a great value for that keyword..and you gone be on top of google for long time...

and believe me if you get there..and get listed you will automaticallly will be added to many 100 best web directories automatically....and you will have a permanent stay for that keyword online..i
hope this gone help you more..on this..

I think the great thing about Dmoz is that the quality of links is generally good, but there is obviously a problem in that it can take so long to get listed.

Guess you just have to accept that these two factors go hand in hand.

Dmoz is the best human edited directory, It will check the website completely based on Dmoz terms and conditions. If the site is real and title, description is good then DMOZ will approve but need more patience to get approval.

If your site offers little more than a bunch of affiliate links, I wouldn't consider submitting it.

DMOZ is far from what some used to consider as a magic bullet; getting listed there does not assure you of top rankings nor does it get you listed in the top directories automatically. Most of the directories using the RDF Dump are worthless to begin with.

I think you will find an answer here: http://www.webproworld.com/webmaster...gories-In-DMOZ

Generally speaking, a new question should go in a new thread. But best to make sure there isn't a thread started yet. Before I post a new thread, I Google for related threads: keyword1 keyword2 site:webproworld.com.

Try again -- this time changing something in your submission because the first one did not work

Perhaps the DMOZ editor was not impressed with your site enough to include it in DMOZ. Remember DMOZ is human edited, and for your site to be accepted, the editor has to agree that your site is worth listing

Check the content of your site. Perhaps add more pages, make the homepage more appealing and put more content on it.

Also review the submission you did. Perhaps you need to improve on the site description.

It takes time to get listed in DMOZ. A quality social science site I know took about a year to get into DMOZ -- and this site is full of great content

After just 4 months it's very likely that the submission has yet to be reviewed by anyone. If a site meets the guidelines and is going to be listed, the submission details are not going to cause rejection so changing "something" in the submission is unlikely to make any difference. By resubmitting you are only over-writing the time stamp of the submission and should the editor sort the submissions by date, you'll only push yours further down.

What has worked for me in the past is to write a guidelines compliant description and title. I'm told these typically stand out when an editor scans the submissions.
