Nofollow are for not crawling a link by search engine. Dofollow allow search engine to crawl links. Nofollow tag we can use if we are using a link for reference not for crawl. Both are good for human traffic.

This is the main difference between No follow & Do follow...

    Yes, there is a difference.

No-follow is telling search engines not to follow the link. So a link to your site using the no-follow tag does not give your page a ranking boost, although humans can still click through the link. You get the human traffic but not the PageRank boost.

Do-follow is telling search engines to follow the link. So a link to your site using the do-follow tag gives your page a ranking boost; it should rank higher in search engine results. Since your page ranks higher in the search engine results, it should yield more traffic to your page in addition to the direct human visitors who might visit through the link itself.

    Cheers,

I am sorry, but this is inaccurate. The no follow attribute is a signal to not pass PageRank with the link. The link may be still crawled, and may be indexed (especially if there are other links to it).

Re: No difference between No follow & Do follow?

Google tried to get the other search engines to go along with their --No Follow--. It did not work. I believe that any link is a good link. A do follow from a good location is still a good link.

Google in my opinion has abandoned their pushing of the no follow idea because they really do not want webmasters sculpting their links. They want real pages.

My opinion is worth what you paid for it.

In the grander scheme a no follow link could be worth more because it is there for informational purpose not for pr purpose...

I think dofollow has high value than nofollow but still all links are helpful as long as it's relevant.

Nofollow can increase your site traffic while dofollow create backlinks to your site, search engine counts them differently...

    There is big difference:

The “nofollow” HTML attribute was originally designed to stop comment spam on blogs. Blog readers and bloggers were well aware of the immense problem. Just like any other type of spam affects it’s community, comment spam affected the entire blogging community, so in early 2005 Google’s Matt Cutts and Blogger’s Jason Shellen designed an attribute to address the problem and the nofollow attribute was born. Since then, the nofollow attribute’s usage has gone far beyond just blog comments. Web directories commonly use the nofollow to control outbound links. Free directory listings that are either not paid or are not reciprocally linked usually use the nofollow attribute. Since both outbound and inbound links are considered when some of the important search engines rank a page, the nofollow attribute is used to control the outbound links so as not to give away ranking.

Dofollow is important for google. If it is nofollow than it is not visible to google and can not index, but nofollow has nothing to do with visitors. A visitor can't see whether the link is dofollow or nofollow.
