    Web to CD

Can anyone suggest/ recommend a good free/ low-cost way to completely archive a website or browser format to a cd or floppy?
I need to have the pages linked relative on the disk rather than try to access the web.
We want to distribute some of the same info from our site on disk.
for example, e:\WorkCD\index.htm would link to e:\WorkCD\brochure.pdf ,etc...

    Thanks!

    This is a possibility:

*Given that you have a CD recorder or the site is small enough for a floppy
*Given that the site is on line.

1)Download this soft to download entire websites for offline navigation (free trial for 30 days):
    http://www.metaproducts.com/mp/mpPro...etail.asp?id=5

2)Download the site with it (really easy)

    3) The soft will save the site inside a default folder called "download" in C:/ and it will create a new floder in it with the site´s name i.e. www.yoursite.com and put the site content there. It will make the necessary changes to links in order to make the site work inside that folder.

4)Copy that folder as it is to the CD or floppy.

    5) This is optional: find the default page of the site inside its folder. Open your Notepad or plain text editor you have. Write:

    [autorun]
    open=www.yourdomian.com/default.html

(where "yourdomain" is the folder´s name and "default.html" is the name of the main page)

Save this as "autorun.inf" in the CD or floppy ROOT, outside the site folder.

It will make the site load its mainpage when someone uses the cd or floppy.

    Hope it helps :o)

Vicki - there is some software called HtmlToHlp which might do the trick. It will convert the Html files into RTF and then into a Windows Help file so you can navigate thru the pages.

    http://www.helpmaster.com/hlp-converter-htmltohelp.htm

Another option is if you have FTP access, you can probably just do a simple drag and drop of the root folder onto CD through Explorer.

You would probably want to Upload it to your hard drive first and run thru the links to make sure nothing is broken and does not reference http:// links in the Html. Most FTP programs or even Explorer itself will duplicate the directory structure. Then it is just a matter of burning it to CD.

You will also want to include the Auto Start file. The directions were in the link that Matauri provided for you. You will autostart on the index.html file and the browser will take care of it from there.

Archiving a web site to CD

One real easy way to do this would be to use Acrobat 5 (or 6), and have it "capture complete site".
It will give you working buttons and is very fast.
    Good Luck
