    Keyword density

Is there a magic number for your keywords density in the page in order to rank better for those keywords?

I found it interesting that pages with two paragraphs are ranking better than pages with 8 paragraphs.

    Thank you.

There is not a magic number. There are those who will say that 3-5% is the ideal keyword density, but you will also find most SEO experts say there is no such thing as KWD.

There is, however, a point after which you are keyword stuffing - and that is a negative signal to Google.

I could find you lots of "expert" references on the myth of Keyword Density and if you Google the term you will find them yourself. But one respected SEO expert writes:

    Keyword Density
    - A complete myth as an algorithmic component, keyword density nonetheless pervades even very sharp SEO minds. While it's true that more usage of a keyword term/phrase can potentially improve targeting/ranking, there's no doubt that keyword density has never been the formula by which this relevance was measured.

    Re: Keyword density

I might even go as far as say that keyword stuffing in certain areas of your campaigns can help boost your site in the SERPs as I have tested this and seen successful results.

So with MJ I would definitely agree that keyword density is mostly irrelevant but again ad that keyword stuffing (never in meta tags, title tags or alt and title attributes) when done carefully and craftily can help you get decent results. I would like to add though that after a time and more times I tend to try to reduce places where I've stuffed keywords bit by bit - importante...as users don't like the look of a keyword stuffy site.

There are no hard and fast rules, it depends on so many other factors such as LSI (latent cemantic indexing), inbound links etc. I would go for a page that is relevant and looks natural.

Could you please give us some details on LSI?

    Re: Keyword density

Now it looks like a LOT of the top ranking sites have a keyword density of about 2% to 5%.

There is a lot of info on the web about LSI... it's about use of related words, synonyms etc. Here is one site you could take a look at to find a bit more about it: Examples of LSI | Latent Semantic Indexing.

    Re: Keyword density

I advise you to write content for your users only. If you feel, you are repeating the same words frequently then replace with other related words. This will help you to target for your website's other secondary keywords.

Btw there are other some more aspects which help your website's keywords rank high like marketing, design etc. So do not think, that website gone up top with only 2 paragraphs. There may be some more factors which helped that website occupy the top position.

Hope my words clear to you.

    Re: Keyword density

I was reading through material on the net and was a bit confused on this question.
What I gathered from most of these posts is that:keyword density should be between 3-9%. My question is:
    1. Is this applicable only for the text content? (appears so)
    2. What about the meta tags?Does the repetition of keywords there count? If yes, what should be the ideal keyword density for the entire page (taking into consideration the meta tags, body, links etc?)
