How much content is a blog to have?

Hi,

I created my first blog 6 weeks ago, have garnered about 4200 posts (little clicks)

I have basically following whatever I learn as i go.

I'm a bit frustrated at the moment as I am not sure where to go next.

Scrap the blog, choose another tack, narrow my subject matter?

How much content will attract decent traffic? Are we talking 100's of posts? Thousands?

Any constuctive criticism would be appreciated.

This just seems to be a fulltime job for little return atm.

First of all, are you sure of 4200 posts that too with in 6 weeks period?

Perhaps when you say 4,200 posts you mean 'hits?"

One great post can attract more traffic than thousands mediocre posts .. so the answer depends on the quality of your posts.

A great blog can be lucrative and satisfying. I'm not sure I see the makings of such a blog in your first try, but that doesn't mean you can't develop it into something worth your effort.

What is the purpose of your blog? To make money from Ad-Sense, Amazon or affiliates? To genuinely provide useful information to the viewer? Six weeks time is not giving much of a chance to the site.

The blog should have specific purpose.
First of all, find the target audience.
Next, it should be updated on regular basis.
