1. Introduction
I have set up a new main domain SocialNorway powered by Elgg - Open Source Social Networking and Social Publishing Platform. Now I want to add (wordpress MU - Multi User) wordpress MU › Blog Tool and Publishing Platform as an add on domain for a multiuser blogging network.
2. How add on domains function.
An add on domain is a domain hosted in a subfolder of the main domain like this: Web2evolution has started. Start the road at web2logistics.com. This add on domain uses the same DNS servers as the main domain, so after a cPanel configuration it resolves to this: Web2evolution has started. Start the road at web2logistics.com
3. Installing wordpress Mu did not resolve as expected.
There are two options when you install wordpress Mu, as a sub domain (the preferred option) and to a sub folder. The installation takes about half an hour because so many files have to be transferred. I tried both options. When the installation was finished and the DNS configured, it did not resolve to http://www.blognorway.com/ (under construction) but instead to the structure showed in the first link in 2. above.
4. Anybody that know wordpress MU
and how to fix the problem, more precisely so the finished installation resolves to http://www.blognorway.com/ ?
5. My Elgg installation can also be improved.
As a side note I installed Elgg on the root. Ideally when version 1.7 (2.0) of Elgg is out, I want that installed in an Elgg subfolder, but showing the same home page as in the first link in the introduction. I have not tried that. Is there members / surfers that know the Elgg software better than me and know if that is possible without manual intervention in the file system?
Constructive input is highly appreciated on a single or both subjects.
