    Google Commerce Search

Why should a merchant use Google Commerce Search? Starting at $50K, it seems really pricy and will not help with the ranking much.

Han anyone set it up or used it? Is it in the wild yet? I've seen the Google store and the Youtube store; is it like that? Why would a merchant want to manage two carts (a Google cart and your website cart)?

50K? That's out of this world!

Where's this posted on the web if you would share that?

So far I found this with respect to the cost. It seems it depends on a number of factors:

How much does Google Commerce Search cost? - Google Commerce Search Help

I don't think they are going to be managing two carts. I believe it will be a search integration that apparently makes searching their products much quicker.

this is for large scale enterprise level merchants and does not affect your natural search results

    Re: Google Commerce Search

I posted about this a couple months ago when Google first e-mailed me about it.

$50k price tag shows Googles apparent greed (I thought this was a no no according to Google?) and heavy slant on pushing mom & pops out, in favor of large corporate money, it is seen in Organic & Paid areas more and more.

Mix this in with the recent post of Brin & Page selling of 5bil in stock and it looks like the free wheeling good time at Google are dying up.....

AND.......Can googlers say bye bye perks, and outlandish extravagances, most other "employees" do not receive...

There has not been much noise about it, so I would chalk it up to google failure # 137

I think the folks at Google are either smoking something or really think they are more than a "one trick pony" (AdWords) to make money.

I would think with all the PhDs and MBA gods working at Google, they would have a better grasp on setting-up their pricing and understanding the marketplace.

After all, with a little under 20K employees at Google spending 20% of their time working on personal projects (8 million man hours per year) they would come up with something other than PPC advertising to make money. This idea will fail.

I'm rather stunned that everyone is making all these assumptions as to why the price 'seems' so hefty.

We ALL jack prices more than what our services or products are worth for profits.

We have no clue as to the cost and time it took to develop this search product, nor do we know what it's worth for the consumer in the end.

    Everyone is speculating.
