    Good logo speaks for itself

A good logo design speaks for itself, its very sight will evoke a strong impact in the minds of intended audience thus establishing a strong bond with the audience. It engages the audience attention and builds relationship with the brand in a healthy way.

I am not sure exactly what creates a good logo. But my logo above took a long time to evolve. I think it says everything I need my logo to say.

Exactly what does make a good logo? I think that a lot has not been written that possibly could be written on this topic.

Re: Good logo speaks for itself

No, small business people only want a logo to do that. Logos don't build a relationship -- the business practices, product design and service policy builds the relationship and established the brand.

A logo is a distinctive mnemonic device -- a memory prompt -- for recalling the relationship you have with a company. How the company answers the phone and designs its invoice is just as much part of the branding effort.

The mistaken belief that a logo does all that by itself is the same sort of laziness and shortcut thinking endemic to business failure.

Read Logo Misapplication. You design a great business. And then the logo becomes important. A brand and branding happens 99% outside of a graphics app. The futile hope is you can neglect or ignore marketing, business design, and customer focus with the right logo.

That's why logo design clients get all worked up about their logo design -- they're betting the logo will make up for an unremarkable business and zero competitive advantage. It doesn't happen.

I like the idea of a logo evolving. I do not think there a hard and fast law that says 'this logo cannot change'. . .

A good logo should instantly engage by encapsulating what the brand stands for. Evolution... maybe to stay fresh, but a good logo with a strong brand should stand the test of time.
