in my humble opinion, one of the best dramas ever televised is Prisoner Cell Block H. Started watching it again last year... and having around 670 episodes, it'll keep me going for sometime yet.
also looking forward to the 5th and final series of Dexter. And after numerous good reports, have just started on series one of The Wire.
Another all time favourite is The Sweeney... "Your Nicked!"

I have been watching the National Geographic Channel in High Def and there are some cool shows on there..."Ross Kemp on Gangs" is very interesting and another one called "Lockdown" about prison life in the United States...check them out!
almost all the main channels' shows can be seen on their sites, like cbs, nbc, abc, fox. many cable shows also have full episodes of their shows. i use hulu a lot for shows i can't find on their website.

True Blood by far, I also think Mad men is a fantastic period piece. I love Archer when I'm in a mood to laugh.
