Real Time Search is here!

Real Time Search has been frequently discussed lately, and it looks like it is now a reality. While the rollout of live search results may take a while (it is slowly being added to Google accounts) it appears to have been released for all searches on Android and iPhone phones, at least if they are using the default browser, by clicking Options then Updates in the upper right corner of the SERPs. Give it a try on your phone, or in a desktop search if available. What do you think of this search?

Just some further information. The real time search will include results from Twitter, MySpace, Facebook, FriendFeed, Jaiku and Identi.ca.

Also, note that if you have not yet been upgraded to real time search, you can sample the feature by going to Google Trends and clicking one of the hot topics on the list.

I have to say that it sounds dreadful for the most part, but it will be interesting to see how it functions.

Twitter and Facebook contain a lot of junk - I don't really want to see that cluttering up the Google results.

RTS isn't really an SEO thing.. More of a Social Media thing.. Different skillset even though some people think that they can do it all..

I think you are thinking of Google Goggles, also launched the same day as Real Time Search.

It is, as far as I have seen so far, constrained to its own area, much like new results and video results are in their own blocks, rather than scattered down the page. This was one of the elements that I was curious about when I first heard about real time search being added - how would it be integrated into the actual page.
