    Russian Yandex engine

Is anyone else getting more searches done by the Yandex and Yahoo bots than by Google? My stats show:
    Yandex bot 731+10 3.22 MB 04 Dec 2009 - 06:57
    Yahoo Slurp 458+22 3.08 MB 04 Dec 2009 - 06:51
    Googlebot 257+32 2.23 MB 04 Dec 2009 - 06:59

I'm also seeing 10 direct referrals from Yandex and just 11 from Google.
Are the Russians more interested in my site or is this an indication hackers are working hard to get into my site?

Seems to be that travel/tourism AND relationships, marriages etc. are things russian women are really interested in. In my signature site I get a lot of russian woman even contact me asking me to sponsor them to Canada and in return they'll give me a life of amazing sex. Good deal eh? No.

It could be that but what information could they get if they were hackers trying to get in?

    Re: Russian Yandex engine

I know someone who brought over a russian nanny many years ago. He loves her and they will be getting married. Life can be tough for some in Russia and they are very appreciative of being able to come to N. America and have a good life.

I'm not sure that a hacker would get any information from my site, but they may use it as a spamserver I suppose. But you may be correct in that the women of Russia are actually reading the stuff posted. Europeans generally speak several languages and English is the International language, so there is a good chance that they actually are reading the posted information.

I'm curious though... if anyone else is getting more crawls from Yandex than Google. Is Yandex indexing my site more thoroughly than Google? Will Yandex be Google's next competitor? I wonder what would happen if I tried searching from it? Hmmmm...

Chances are your site has lots of images. Yandex appears to give reasonable traffic for image searches in many international sites. It just consumes bandwidth. Most advertisers will not target Russia anyway.

I can understand new members trying to get past the first 10 posts so they can post links and such, but what has a veteran poster got to gain by posting the obvious?

Stick around long enough, observe how few members read an entire thread before jumping in, and you'll come to understand.
