Signature Links: Is it good to mingle multiple links in your signature?

So I've been starting to think about promoting one of my other websites and it's services and have been interested in placing another link in my signature for webproworld.com as part of my campaign. My wonderment resides in not knowing if it would be a good idea to add another link to my signature.

Would the new link affect the standing of my current signature site? The search engines would be able to tell that both links are from the same server or would they? and if they do or can could the effect be the same as what we've termed link-farming or self promotion linking?

I'm aware that many members have several links in their signatures but I'm more concerned with the effect - I'm being slightly meticulous I know but what are your opinion?

If it is original content, the SE's should not care where your sites comes from. It may be margianally more important that your sites is hosted in market x if you target market x.

Don't expect to big direct effect of signature links. I think the indirect effect is more important: http://www.webproworld.com/search-en...tml#post474560

Absolutely. I'm not concerned whatsoever about a positive effect or link juice (PR) but more about what could negatively happen to my first link's standing in search due to the addition of the second one.

I understand signature links don't care big juice but there are effects and I guess I'm going to have to take a dive and find out for myself.

I know there will be some sort of effect but whether I can measure it or not that's another story...

I was wondering if you change your sig link, does it change the sigs in previous posts or just posts going forward?

I think it changes the signature in your other posts...I checked this once...

and so even that, ok although as many believe, forum signatures only count as one link from a site, so if you chance your signature than your one links worth of link juice (PR) is reduced...

So if you add another link to the area what effect would that have upon the standing of the original link?

Its better to use the signature to promote your sites, not to get the limited amount of link juice associated

Right, im NOT interested in Juice (PR) but since there is some sort of PR associated with links, I am wondering what the change in the sentence, with a new added link, to a non-related site do the current standing of the link in the signature.

    Hello, Maya-

Any change that you make to your profile, such as signature or avatar, just like your running postcount, will be reflected in ALL your posts, old and new alike.

Signature links do not pass link juice at all, so it doesn't matter, but links in the post do!

edit by tubby; Why did you draw attention to yourself? The rules of the forum state quite clearly your link should be in your signature. I deleted the link. It needs to go in your signature. Lol...

At all, James? I agree that it's nearly negligible, but what do you base that statement on?
