Thread: http://www.personalizedmementos.com - Want SEO help

    Hi Mark

I've just installed and finished the initial setup of the phpBB discussion board for my website. I've also checked your own one and you haven't been getting many users have you.

My bb is http://starcoins.biz/phpBB2/index.php so I hope you will visit sometime.

    Coins forum

    Osirus,

I visited and posted - good luck, I've had very little traffic. I've also stated in the Intros section that I'm not going to "fake" it (if you know what I mean: create a bunch of non-existant users and make a bunch of bogus posts). So, we'll see if the interest is there. If not, I guess the world doesn't need another embroidery forum. BTW, you may want to go into the admin panel and make all of your forums [registered]. That way, people have to at least register/login before posting. I know I had to change mine (noticed it right after you posted ;)

    Again, cheers & good luck,

    Mark

Thank you for the tip and I will make the adjustment now.

I hope you get more visitors soon. :)

Question: how did you change the logo on your forum pages from the default phpBB one to your company logo? I looked in the docs and there was nothing about that.

Sorry about this but can I ask you to go and re-post, because I've had to reinstall and by doing that I lost all settings and existing posts (just yours).

First, regarding the SEO stuff (of which I'm not an expert). I have a few suggestions for you. Are you listed in DMOZ? If not, you need to be. I think Google puts a lot of weight on lost listings. dmoz.org

Another suggestion. Do you embroider company logos? If so, I ought to talk to you about my own logo, but, with regards to SEO-- you should be promoting your corporate logo embroidering abilities. Look at getting links to your site from corporate promo sites, corporate gift sites, etc. In fact, if you had some sort of affiliate program set up, I would be interested in putting your banner on my corporate gifts page. Nonetheless, I'll put a link to your site on that page for you right now. There. I added one. That page has a PR of 5-6, but is at a 5 tonight.

And my final question, with regards to the Elegant Baby stuff-- does Elegant Baby make the clothing then you are embroidering it? Is this something that you might sell wholesale or at some discounted price if another vendor (like myself ;-) ) were to sell the item on their site for you? Just another affiliate option for you to consider. My baby and wedding pages are my most visited pages lately.

    Thanks for the feedback

    April,

Thanks for the feedback. Regarding DMOZ, I've been in the review queue for a couple of months now - still not reviewed (as of May 2), so we'll see.

I think you're right spot on when you mention promoting specific areas: I'm still struggling with trying to distill what we really do well into specific programs, we're pretty spread out, but we do a ton of corporate logos, heraldry, and chef wear. They're such different venues that I'm not sure how to attack them (maybe I need to have separate pages for these?).

Anyway, thanks for the link, I couldn't get to it when I last tried, but I'll reciprocate as well.

If you're interested in a logo, I'd be glad to do it. Try the catalog, or drop me an email.

    Cheers,

    mark

    Quick update

    Hey guys,

First, thanks for all the feedback. I've still not gotten much on SEO - but with the catalog and all it's probably too much for a passing review.

As an update, I still seem to be in the "waiting for review" queue for DMOZ - last year, I seemed to just drop off the map while waiting for review - I hope this time is different. I've also added a FAQ section - somewhat specific to the business, and simply formatted; so if you could take a look and let me know if it answers you questions, or gives you more questions, I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks & Cheers,
