does anybody know if where i can find information about how to set up email marketing (step by step or do you have to buy a book?). I already have a lot of info, but some good resources from people who have done it before or are doing it already never hurts!

I took a look at the site in your profile. In essence the site provides a way for people to sell their business either online or through your offline publication.

(I pressume the offline publication came first and you moved on to the web to expand your reach.)

Before making any suggestions a couple of questions:

* what is the objective in building one or lists and running email campaigns?

Do you want to direct market to potentially interested business buyers?

Do you want to provide a tip sheet to vendors?

Do you want to provide a tip sheet to buyers?

* Also, what about building and maintaining list ...

Do we want to use our web site to collect contact info including email addys?

Do we want to look at services to aid us in building our list?

These are a couple of questions which come to mind.

I ask, because depending on your objectives this can help clarify what resources if any may be of assistance.

be careful, I nearly got my finger burnt..it is not as good as it seems ..beware the cowboys who guarantee good roi...it does not happen!!
I only got 2 hot leads and 21 warm for 10,000 emails at a cost of 900 pounds!!!

purchased "opt in" emails haven't been worth the money. only decent response seen marketing legitimate subscribers.

i agree with the other post about 2 out of 10,000.

it may be a better idea to pay for ad space in an existing (someone else's) newsletter.

make sure to set up spf for your domain. (http://spf.pobox.com)

A good email program with autoresponders is a must. You can find good ones some at http://www.hotscripts.com/PHP/Script...ers/index.html

Also, www.snapfiles has a few free ones.

The difference between email marketing and SPAM is solicitation. SPAM is sending unsolicited email, while a good email marketing program has customers sign up for your weekly, monthly, etc newsletter. Permission is the difference between SPAM and a good campaign.
