    Tool Monitors Your Google Rankings

If you're looking for an easy way to monitor and track your ranking for specific keywords in Google then you should consider using GoogleRankings.

Their most basic function allows you to see where a single site ranks for a single keyword. My guess is that you already know where you rank for the terms you optimize for though. That's why their advanced rank checking functions are more effective for gathering actionable data.

With the "Mass Keyword Search" you can search for up to ten keywords for one site. The "Mass Domain Search" allows you to search up to ten domains, though only for one keyword. The only thing they're missing is an autosearch that emails you your results every morning so you can see just where you stand.

Their Advanced Search function allows you to really target what kinds of pages you want to appear. You can limit for file formats, languages, place search term appears, by domain (good for massive sites), and by last update (cool!).

The GoogleRankings site also offers a keyword density analyzer and a keyword selector. The selector simply shows you which words appear the most frequently on your page though, which is hardly a way to determine the best keywords for your site. Still, it's a good place to start, and might give you an idea you hadn't thought of yet for keywords.

Their help file is extensive and despite a spelling error or two (Hungarian web developers built this site) is understandable, professional and written with the SEO in mind.

Think this tool ... is not a great one. Check for keywords 'wharton fashion' for the website www.whartonfashion.com >>> you yourself will know.

BTW, Google warns us not to use automated tools like this. Do you have any idea what are these unauthorised programmes?

"Don't use unauthorized computer programs to submit pages, check rankings, etc. Such programs consume computing resources and violate our terms of service. Google does not recommend the use of products such as WebPosition Gold™ that send automatic or programmatic queries to Google. "

    They probably use google's API:

More than probably. But the GoogleAPI only allows for 1000 queries per day.

Wonder what will happen if this tool gets popular? It will be very easy for that the limit to get reached.

If that would be the case, and the tool still functioned without getting the "Sorry, limit reached" notice...then it may not be using the API. It is not setup by Google (smartly so) for commercial applications of this type. So it would leave pause for thought on some of these tools out there already.

    Per GoogleRankings.com website

Googlerankings.com was developed by a Hungarian web design team solely to retreive the location of websites on Google's result page. Googlerankings.com is in no way affiliated, sponsored or in any way the property of or responsibility of Google.com. It is however a tool that finds domain names within the list Google.com shows for a given search, thus is powered by Google. Our service operates by the courtesy of Google Inc., and has been given permission to run by their legal department.

    I actually found it useful

I am not a proponent such tools, but I found this one in particular quite useful. I used to have one of my sites in the first position, for some search terms and after one of the Google tremors it was gone. I tried to look for it but was unable. Now I plugged the terms and located it in position #32.

Now, can someone write a script to explain such sporadic Google behavior, please?

The better ones of this ilk that I have found has three parts to it Backlinks, Keywords, and Saturation. Allows for you to compare against your competitors also.

They just added a new feature that will record your results each time you use it, and display that in a graph format spread out over time.

It covers all the major SE's and if you look closely at the bottom of each section, you will find links to the other minor players as well.

The tool is at MarketLeap: http://www.marketleap.com/publinkpop/

That is Trialware dude. It is not free, nor is it an online tool like we were discussing. This site also does not make it quite clear that it is a paid service up front. You have to dig to find that information.
