Article Marketing, will remain alive for life?

May be I am initiating this thread with somthing having negative in mind. However, I can remember the directory submission blizzard around the world some years ago and SEO's kept shouting it works for organic ranking. All of the sudden google removed that suggestion from their web master guidelines and currently encouraging peole to put more efforts in article marketing and similar efforts.

May question is, will it remain alive always? or article marketing is going to die some time later and we will hear people saying that google dislikes website having extensive article marketing done in past?

    Thanks

article marketing means creating interesting article to attract visitors. Well, I think this would be important forever because most of people are using internet to search an information. And this is the use of article marketing to give information to your readers.

This would be alive as long as the writers provide good content.
It definitely attracts the visitors and the search engines too.

I think it will but like The Leader says good quality articles as good quality content result in useful and relevant links. Most of the time!

I don't think duplicate content in articles is a big problem to Google.
If it is a problem Google would have observed those things earlier itself.

Article marketing in my opinion is one of the best ways to create relevant links which Google loves. The only real issue I have is very few articles result in a high PR link. You must diversify your linking strategy for long term success.

IMO You cannot really compare directory submissions and article submissions. Directory submissions requires ZERO work. Any monkey could be trained to submit URLs to directories. Hell, it doesn't even require a monkey. There is software galore to do it for you. Directory links require no work. I personally don't mind if Google discounts them all.

Article submissions at least requires that you take the time to generate some hopefully unique content (well, unless you suck, don't have a brain of your own, steal OTHER peoples content, run it through a spinner and submit it). I think it is seen by Google as an acceptable way to build backlinks since you "should" be required to generate some unique content.

Do I think article submissions will eventually get targeted by Google's spam team? Sure... I think in a lot of cases they probably already have. I'm sure Google knows which cheap, fly-by-night article submission sites have no standards for the articles they publish, will post any crap article, and are frequently targets of spammers using spun stolen articles, and they are likely already ignoring links from from some subset of those types of sites.

It's unfortunate that everytime something good comes along like article submission that blackhats, spammers and lazy webmasters who are too sorry to write their own content have to abuse the system and ruin it for those who actually try to play by the rules.

But that's life on the web for some... find a loophole, exploit it, abuse it in excess, and have it shutdown... rinse and repeat.
