What I Got Out Of It

1. Building a network of sites, each being built and handled as a real business and separate from one another allows you to pull a real link punch when the time is needed.

2. Content is King and having a number of people writing articles that target different keywords allows you to drive traffic to a site daily.

3. Good content will get incoming links on its own.

First, I read it too. Glad to see I'm hopefulling reading some of the good stuff.

2nd, having that network is great. People need to realize it takes time and patience. Building an online business takes time and you have to be in it for the long haul.

I'm still not buying the content is king thing, at least not initially. The fact is no matter how good your content is, people still have to find it or be told about it. They won't find it on their own. So I think link building is king initially. Or social networking.

One thought that did stand out though was the enormity of this guy's job! Overseeing SEO for over 30,000 articles a day!?!? I don't think the pay (no matter how much) would be worth that stress! LOL

Actually, try 400,000,000,000,000 (400 trillion). A bit of an unlikely number.

It's good to hear at least one publishing company has become more web savvy. I think Associated Press (?) have been criticised in the past for making decisions which indicate a poor understanding of how the web works.

That is a good article! I've been a full time SEO for over 4 years now and one of the areas I still lack experience in is working with large sites and networks. I generally work for SMBs or "one man bands" so I always like to read about how SEOs deal with large networks such as this. I'd love to get my teeth into a job like that!
