Is it better to have 2 different domains if you want to incorporate a blog to your e-commerce store or it doesn't matter?

Option 1:
www [.] mydomain [.] com ( ecommerce url )
www [.] mydomain [.] com/blog ( blog for ecommerce url )

OR

Option 2:
www [.] mydomain [.] com ( ecommerce url )
www [.] myotherdomain [.] com ( blog for ecommerce url )

It really depends on case to case basis. It also depends on how much time and effort can you spend on your blog. If the blog is going to be a real useful content marketing asset, you might consider having a separate domain for it. If it's just a casual thing you're going to use every now and then, put it on the same domain.

yes i think Toni is right to some degree: if your blog is going to be right useful and provide great information to your visitors GOOD, BUT in that case it wouldn't matter if your blog was here nor there...


however, if it were up to me (and again the content was great) then I would add the blog to my domain, just so it's all in one place...
