Free Google Sitemap Generator

Hi Guys,

Firstly, thanks to Webnauts for the original post referencing Free Sitemap Generator. (http://www.webproworld.com/search-en...imization.html)

I've signed up and am currently awaiting the sitemap for my website - just wanted to know if anyone else here has used it and what their views are on this free service.

I'm currently in the queue at position 8532, and that hasn't changed in 10 minutes, so I'm just wondering if it will be 85320 minutes till I receive the sitemap!

Update -

5 hours later, still at position 8532 - maybe this service is too popular for it's own good - I'll post back if and when I receive the sitemap,

Just go here https://www.automapit.com/ and pay for one. Cost about a buck per month. Best money I ever spent.

If you are using Wordpress there is plugin that can generate a sitemap from your blog.

not sure what you are waiting for,unless your site has hundreds of pages you can use the free one that I do & submit to google webmaster tools it is also person readable as well as computer readable. go to my sitemap page & click on the softplus gsitecrawler link at top of page to get your own free one.

Darren why do you need to use G's sitemap generator and wait? There's many free tools out there that will create them.

Yes, I have seen several of the others you mention above - the wordpress sitemap plugin I am aware of, but have not tried it yet (not sure if it includes pages from my static website that the blog is hosted on - will need to check).

Have revisited Free Sitemap Generator today again, and still at position 8532, so i'll be trying another!

*Just installed Gsite Crawler will see how that goes.

GSiteCrawler is pretty good, and I think it has other features to it. I haven't looked at it in a few years so I can't remember now.

Quick update -

Gave up on Free Sitemap Generator - was at same postion for 24 hours in queue.

Gsitecrawler - binned it - was sketchy to install & set up, didn't work initially (had to update it with an update from.....2007, even though I'd installed the latest download - then that didn't work and had to install the 'beta' update....also from 2007...). Also couldn't get it to crawl my blog pages. Maybe some would like it, but not for me. Ah - if you you use it, and run Vista, also make sure you 'run as administrator'....or you may be sat there for half an hour as I was, waiting for a list to generate

Finally settled on the Auditmypc tool in Clint's post in this thread (http://www.auditmypc.com/xml-sitemap.asp - thanks v. much Clint ). Did the job in about 30 seconds, a few entries in there that will need removing, but seemed to crawl my blog nicely. Enter website url, click button, job done. That's what I was looking for!

Just downloaded & installed gsitecrawler setup as test after reading above comment & crawled a friends small site worked perfectly. made yahoo txt file & google sitemap.xml file only thing was firewall permission request which I agreed when installing under winxp pro SP3
