Server IP Blacklisted in DNSBL . Will it impact on SERP?

I have the same problem with my email addresses being blacklisted, as the address is used by spammers on a regular basis. I tried to appeal to the blacklisting companies and got nowhere. The biggest surprise I got a while back was an email from myself selling drugs!

I have never spammed myself and hate with avengence (understandably) those who do. Yet suffer the consequences of blacklisting as a result. I get round the problem by using a hotmail account to email those whose ISP reject my emails.

However that said, all my sites rank well in the search engines. Interesting that moving servers could cure the problem, but I suspect the ranking will drop dramatically just because the server has been changed.

I would think that you should be ok.. The bots "shouldn't" use the black list to reject sites from the crawl and index.. But I don't know since I hate these types of black lists and don't know much about them other than the people running them tend to be petty tyrants with very high opinions of themselves..

I have a business acquaintance who is part owner of a very legitimate web hosting company. They had a blacklisting incident, and I guess it was a tough thing to work through.

I am not Steve but will take a stab at it anyways. I think their stated goal is good, I just think the elitists who run them have left that goal behind in their onwards struggle towards tyranny. If the lists were setup so that all submissions were checked upon submission, and rechecked again every month or so, it would alleviate many of the issues we see people griping about. They currently blacklist entire hosting companies because a handful of hostees spam from their servers, even if those hostees were terminated, and the blocks stay on for months and even years in some cases, with no real recourse for the hosting providers. Far better communication lines need to be established before any list should have the power maps and dnsbl have.

I used to be an active member of nanae and several other antispam groups.. Having owned a real ISP rather than being a reseller spam was a very expensive part of our business.. Over time I grew to hate what the anti-spam groups became.. A bunch back stabbing heroes with incredibly high self opinions and the power of god on the net..

Once you were labeled a spammer there was nothing you could do to convince them otherwise.. You have to beg, grovel, and debase yourself to them.. And then they might listen to you, but usually not..

They aren't the only groups to become that either.. There are plenty of them out there.. The DMOZ guys are another example.. Somewhere along the way they got power, DMOZ in the form of Google Directory and nanae in the form of major ISPs using their blackhole lists.. Once they got that power they grew to like it a little too much and lost their way.. It happens..

Not sure if this entire thread is about getting blacklisted from SPAM or blackhat SEO, but I have heard Google specifically blacklisting sites that use software to constantly hit the G servers to get rankings for their link building clients.

I don't believe that being blacklisted on a site will bring down your rankings. I would however think that some email marketing software sites take names off the list to add to their own personal marketing lists before taking on clients or sending out mass emails for those clients.

This simply refers to spam filters that might be used by email servers. So there will be chances that your email broadcasting will not be able to reach those users who are using DNSBL as spam filter checking. If your business is relying on broadcast emails then it will definitely affect you.

Normally after one or two weeks, it will be cleared from the blacklist if no spams for your server IP. If it persists with spams, then it will take longer time for it to remove from the blacklist.

Another way will be writing to them and hopefully they will be able to assist you for removal of the blacklist. But like I have said, it is likely that they tell you to wait for one or two weeks for it to automatically removed itself.
