Changes in URLS

I recently moved my site to new servers and a new CMS software. The results have been very bad and our new site is not producing the same level of order conversions as the old one

All the 2100 site pages have new urls but we redirected the new ones and resubmitted a new sitemap to google

If we move back to thje old servers and software what do you think is the likely impact to our traffic that is already down 15% since the move

Look at it this way:

You wrote a book and thousands read it. A year later, you rewrote the same book and have only just send it off to the publisher.

Firstly, realize that it's going to take some time for Google to read the whole book (spider your entire site).

Secondly, realize that when you make changes of this magnitude, adding/deleting pages, changing and redirecting multiple URL's, Google flags the site for review. As with any new site, they'll sandbox it for a period of time, during which they'll check for missing pages, updated content, inbound links and crawl errors.

Comparatively, it's like having someone research all the new facts and figures before writing a book review and sending your new book to the bookstore. The reason for this is simple. It prevents spammers from filling the index with garbage and it allows Google to assign what they decide is an accurate page rank.

At this point, there's not much you can do. Just keep a close eye on your Webmaster tools and fix any errors they report. Keep building links and wait it out. It could take weeks or months before things bounce back.

Dubbya gives very good advice. Just be patient and your rankings should come back. Make a point of building more backlinks to help bring your traffic back up sooner.

Do not move your site back to the old server/software as this will not help. This will just further delay the time it takes to get your rankings back.

I also moved my 70 pages site about 4 weeks but it returned to its PR4 just yesterday.

So, you need to be patient as this process can take few weeks to couple of months depending on the number of links.

I'd also make sure that the traffic decrease is directly related to the move. Here in the US as the quarter flipped on April 1st a lot of budgets went out the window. For anyone in b2b lost budgets mean less searches.

Dont worry too much about your issue. Positioning in Google will come back in a few weeks because what you have done to your site is something drastic that will take some time for Google to reindex.

Same thing is happening to me right now, I am re-designing my website and moving, I know it will be hard but I will recover my traffic and will get more when my new strategies are rolling!
