Unhappy Great Quality Score but No Ad Showing !

I have setup a new campaign about 10 days ago at Adwords for some keywords related to travel nitche.

I have a keyword for which my Quality Score (QS) is 8/10 but still my AD showing is stating 'NO'.

What could be the reasons of my ADs being not showing despite of a great QS? May be the keyword I am targeting is not being searched frequently? Or is there something else I am missing?

My keyword is present in the Title of the Ad Group and it is a broad match.

Considering that this could be a wide range of things. I'd have to ask a few questions..

    1. Has the ad been clicked in the past, if so what is the CTR

    2. If not, then have you tried different text on the ad copy, if so, how many times a week did you try it.

    3. How many times has your ad ever been shown?

There's also a diagnostics tool that's new when your viewing the campaign. Might also want to try that.

Could just be a bug too.

Being that it's Travel.. that's highly competitive. See what others that are in your niche are buying for keywords SpyFu

It can be frustrating but once you hit the sweet spot of the web the clicks come in like crazy

    Good luck!

The "Key Analysis" box should state, directly above the Quality Score, the reason the the ad not showing for the specific Keyword/Phrase in question..

    E.g.

    Keyword Analysis: [your keyword(s) here]

    Ad showing? No

The keyword phrase you've entered has a low search volume and isn't showing any of your ads.
If more users start searching for your keyword, your ad will begin to show. If you're interested in additional keyword ideas, try the Keyword Tool. Learn more about building an effective keyword list.

    Quality Score: Great (9/10)

Forget Adwords. They will never tell you why your ad runs or does not run. You never know where you stand. Everyone is just guessing. I would suggest contacting websites in your niche and developping targeted ads for those specific websites.

Setting aside the fact that your portrayal of PPC advertising is most specious, one given without substantiation, are we to understand that your suggestion is to ask competitors to advertise your site?

I am speaking from having spent well over $100,000 on PPC. I am not at all suggesting advertising on my site. I am suggesting thinking out of the box and finding creative alternatives to spending thousands on PPC. Google Adwords is very tricky because Google does not communicate well with it's advertisers. If they stop a campaign you have to guess why. It generally is not the reason they claim. Just look at all the forums where people are trying to figure out Adwords. Why should paying advertisers have to figure out anything? We pay for ads and they should deliver.

AdWords is "very tricky?" How so?

You must know that very many succeed very well at PPC programs, finding them to be quite cost effective.

As for your suggesting "contacting websites in your niche and developping targeted ads for those specific websites," 1) are not such the more likely to be competitors, 2) why should such sites be capable of delivering as much traffic as PPC ads, and 3) why should they be more cost effective?

Re: Great Quality Score but No Ad Showing !

I have probably spent over $200k on PPC. The rules are always changing and Google never really tells you exactly what is going on if your campaigns are stopped. There are many sites which appeal to the same audience but are not competitive. Someone who has a site selling dog collars must joint venture with a site selling dog food. Their customers both have dogs but they sell different non competing products. Google is the middleman. Google finds websites and gets them to put up Adsense ads. Then they split the profits. Why not go direct? Most of the traffic from my Google campaigns is from the content network not the search. All Google is doing is running ads on websites. Why not do that yourself and cut a better deal? As for the volume of traffic this is definitely tricky. If I put lots of keywords that are related to my site I get slapped if the exact keywords are not on my landing page even though they are synonyms. If I use just the exact keywords Google usually delivers very little traffic. If I raise my bids to crazy levels it is simply too expensive. It is not straight forward hence all the forums discussing this topic.

The subject at hand is AdWords, not AdSense.

AdWords listing appear on SE results pages; AdSense ads do not.

Actually, you are quite confused and should maybe stop posting until such time as that stops.

Adsense pulls its ads directly from adwords. Adsense is simply the display mechanism and freeleads was commenting on your questioning him about advertising on specific sites. Adsense merely shows adwords ads that the user has not checked the box stating he wishes his ads to ONLY show in search listings. They are the same ads.

And freeleads was actually correct is stating that oftentimes, advertising only on highly targeted sites that use adsense does, in fact, give a much better ROI than general ads that are listed in search results. If you had ever managed budgets of 50k a month or more you would already know this, but not everyone has that ability.
