Thread: SPAM or Not

    Question SPAM or Not

In my blog a new entry was placed in the queue as possible spam. After looking closer into it, I noticed the SPAM is place in the queue as a comment on a post made recently.

The post is a direct copy of what I have in my blog entry and entered on another blog. It provides a link back to my blog, yet on the surface it does look like the entry was made at the other site.

Can this be assessed as SPAM, good as it contains a one-way link back to my site, or a possible SEO penalty (particularly with Google) as it is a copy of my blog entry?

I have the entry still in the queue as unknown and have not flagged it as SPAM.

    Thanks

Basically, your blog was scraped. Happens all the time. I generally delete such pingbacks or at least remove their link.

Thank you for your feedback. My site is very small. I will disapprove it. I appreciate your input.

Generally, you can take advantage of scaper sites by putting full urls within your content. So when they come around and steal what you've written, they unwittingly give you some free inbound links.

This also means its even more obvious to search engines that yours is the original, since they are linking back to the original source from their stolen content.
