    Corel Draw Issues

Has anyone experienced color issues with CorelDraw? Passing CMYK files between CorelDraw and Photoshop shows some major variation. I also find the program is not very stable (v.10). Complicated designs cause it to crash repetedly. Are other designers experiencing these same problems?

p.s. has anyone figured out a faster way to use the eye-dropper/paint tool? Seems so clumsy to select the double button every time.

The best way that I have found to solve the color issues with CMYK's between programs is to use the embeded ICC Color profile.

I started off with v.9 and went to v.11 skipping over v.10. Although from what I have heard v.10 is really bad for crashing. Apparently v.11 is better but I have had times where certain files will constantly crash on me. All I can say in this case in save often. Also make sure you check the corel site for updates I know there were some for v.11 which helped a bit.

As for the issue with the eye-dropper/paint tool if you expand any tool menu you can click and drag the menu away from the main tool bar, which will leave the menu expanded. In v.11 you can dock the expanded tools into a new tool bar on the window.

I guess that would explain it! I have version 10. I am thinking about getting the Adobe CS suite and skipping out on Corel altogether. Thanks for the tips on color and eyedropper. That should help in the meantime.

    Thanks,

    Hi Blastradius,

I have another one for you.
When you select text in a text block you can change every letter or word to a different colour by using the colour palette. However, if you make a selection and try to color with the eyedropper tool it changes the entire sentence to that color. Any idea how to do each section differently with a custom colour?

    Grease,

Don't know how much this will help. But what I do is create a new colour palette for each project, when I need to a sample a colour I use the eyedropper to get the CMYK value and use that value to add a new colour to the palette.

So when I change text colour in the paragraph text I already have swatches set up and I just click on the swatch.

Hope this helps some, I find that the eyedropper is CorelDraw to be quite clumsy and awkward to use in comparison to other programs.
