Thread: Paypal vs StormPay

    Paypal vs StormPay

I'm a Paypal member for more than 2 years, but have been unable to use it since Paypal doesn't send money to any non-US (and some more countries) bank account. Since I'm located in India, I therefore do not qualify for Paypal's discretion.

A few days back I noticed StormPay, which is almost similar to Paypal (including Paypal's new facilities for its users). Among some distinct advantages that it has over Paypal, StormPay sends sellers' money by different modes, and it also accepts buyers' money in different ways.

I look forward to more feedback from my fellow WPW users about StormPay. Also, does StormPay facilitate selling through ebay..?

    Thanks in advance.

I know this topic is paypal vs stormpay but you should consider other options as well. www.iKobo.com is one of them and although they are a new company their coverage is much better than paypal's, about 170 countries. They send you an I-Kard, which is in fact a Visa Plus card, after someone sends you money and they don't charge any setup, monthly or inter-country fees as well. Stormpay's coverage is smaller the that of iKobo and also their rates are higher. That's how I see it, decide for yourselves.

A response at long last... Thanks lionheart. You do have lion's heart (ignore the pun please).

Well, I do know about ikobo. And I have also seen people telling horror stories about it in different forum discussions. God knows what's true. The funny part is ikobo itself never tries to clear the air.

Do you have any other suggestions (other than 2CO)?

Paypal is not a bank. It's just an evil company. There are hundreds of sites just like it, you just have to look for them. www.paypalsucks.com - they even have a hate site. Be sure to read the reviews and search google before signing up to any page you will entrust money in.

The best thing I could suggest is to check with the Better Business Bureau. Also look at the age of the company. PayPal has been in business for several more years than most. They have that going for them. I understand you are looking for something that will work within your country. If stormpay covers your country, then check with your countries (or the U.S.) BBB and get the real info on them. Everyone will have their own opinions (like the one above.)

Every company will have bad press. Someone gets their feelings hurt (usually their own fault) and they need someone to blame. And most go for the big company instead of themselves. I have had nothing but positive results with PayPal.

Let's remember this is a thread about comparison, not mud slinging. So let's keep the [evil] comments to ourselves, and cover the issue at hand.

    Best of luck.

    accept donations?

Is your organization a 501c3? If so, people can donate through network for good on line. You have to sign up with them as an official contact person and submit lots of information. They used to be a free service but now charge a small percentage of each donation. You might look into it, though. You'll find them at

If you just want people to contribute to you to help pay the cost of your web site, it seems that you can do that through pay pay OK.....at least a lot of other people do.

    I will recommand Clickbank

Since paypal is great for Ebayers, Stormpay and clikbank is great too.
I personaly use Clickbank (Worlwide customers and sign in are accepted) as they also provides an affiliate program.
The problem with paypal is with website customers, because people don't want to fill a form asking password (for ebay new account)... they prefered to pay by entering just their name on card, number and exp. date.(just like an ecommerce site will do) I ve choosen ClickBank. It is crucial, any customer lost is money lost too !

payment processor in own currency? + Clickbank question

While we're on the subject, does anyone know a payment processor that lets you charge your customers in local currency (eg.Australian dollars)?
I have been using paypal and just haven't got around to checking others out. So anyone that could help would be much appreciated.
Also the only problem with Clickbank is the fact that you can only sell a product up to $100 USD. Any other solutions for affiliates?
    Thanks
