Pros and Cons of Magento eCommerce Platform

I am thinking of moving my website over to the Magento eCommerce platform. Is this a good platform? Any experience with this software? I'd like to know pros and cons.

yep the magento boards is dedicated to magento - its an ever growing community.

Magento is great, but it may mean use particular hosts as opposed to anyone.

I've personally used a number of eCommerce solutions from Microsoft developed software and hosting through GNU applications. I had utilized OSCommerce for a while until they fell behind regarding MySQL 5, etc.

The best I've seen on the market is by far the Magento eCommerce application. Yes, the hosting requirements are a bit steep but, the reward outweighs any downside that may cause. IMHO.

If you are really considering moving to magento think about using a web service that will automate the process for you (e.g. cart2cart) This will save you the trouble and you will have all your data migrated accurately.
