Page Rank Vs Age of Domain

Hi Everyone,

Recently, I got a project which had, a PR-5, with least traffic.

I want to ask regarding the same, - "Wether this website is ranking only because of it's domain age, which is 11years?" or there is some other thing also which I am not able to find out.

Please do suggest.

Without knowing the domain we can't really tell you why that website is ranking well. If it is PR5 it likely has rankings based on backlinks.

PR is based upon incoming links. A single link passes PR.

Why a site ranks is based upon "lots" of factors.

Google PR can be based many factors but the predominant one is the amount and quality of the inbound links to the web site. Having a high PR5 and getting good traffic are however two different things, besides the fact that there are many sources of traffic.

For instance to rank high in the search engines the only factors that one should target is relevance to search keywords and how sticky is your web site content.

If visitors bounces back after they come to your web site from the search engine results page, that can only mean 2 things: your site is not relevant to what they are looking for, of your site is not showing up at all or not displaying fast enough for them to wait.

UMMMM, don't know what happened above, anyway, you really need to check whether the keywords you are targetting are ever likely to bring in any volume of traffic - try using Google Insights for Search and also the Adwords Traffic Estimator- sometimes you can get dozens of websites all chasing worthless keywords because they haven't done their research.

I agree with most of the posts. It is difficult to make an accurate estimation of the effects of age on rank.

I will say that I have 2 sites marketed similarly but one far out ranks the other and it is 2+ years older. I personally believe that Google has begun placing more emphasis on age to help weed out the spammer sites that pop up and blast the net with forum postings etc.

If you are not in it for the long run, you can be assured Google is trying to weed you out.

Hey i think if you have unique content than you get the PR by Google. And if your domain is old than people are searching this domain by its name not by the key word so may be this is the one result for your site.
