Yes You Can . . . and I Hope You Will

My idea was to create a cooking web site that would be user friendly. The approach is like if you stopped by and sat down to talk in my kitchen. I add details and tips to make our favorite family recipes turn out right at your house. There are a few cookbook reviews, and I'll add some kitchen renovation projects as I get them done. It's a little slow going, since I do each piece and take notes to give good information while it's fresh on my mind.

I know I need more content (working as fast as I can) and that it would be good to have some way for visitors to comment or ask questions (have not got that far in learning web building). I am adding and do have my email there on contact (and do get email comments/questions).

I was hoping for some web savvy input on the site and also thoughts from anyone who cooks (or those who don't but might try a recipe if it's easy to understand and follow).

Thank you for taking a look, and I also hope that folks will find some information or recipes that help.

And, duh, I might add the link . . .

I like the basic feel of the site - it might be an idea to emphasize the word 'can', either by underlining it or putting it in capitals, perhaps.

As you say, you need to get some content on every page but it's coming along nicely.

Can't help you with the visitor side of things - personally I am wary of anything that allows visitors to access the site unless you have time to moderate - the risk of spam and worse is too great in my opinion. I prefer to let people e-mail me and then put their content on my sites in the appropriate place and make sure I thank them profusely either just above their contribution or just below it, to encourage others to write in too.

Even a guest book needs moderating but, if you have the time, then you'll find that there are plenty of options for forums and guest books available. Let's hope someone with more experience of succeeding with visitor interaction stops by to give you some advice.

Best of luck with the site! Cheers!

    Thank you Linnet.

I may just stick with the contact link for now. I'm good about checking online (and my email), but I do hate the idea of spam on the site. Right now, the email includes things like today, "Can I use refried beans instead of bean dip in the Seven Layer Dip." I responded to the email and then went back into the recipe and added that note that refried beans are fine but may need a little taco seasoning or hot sauce to give them a little more flavor in the dip. They can be used plain though but just less zip to the dip.

It seems most sites are adding interactivity now, but maybe people will like my site with it being a personal site and details added as needed. My family members check it too and tell me if they think I have left off anything anyone might need or want to know.

I appreciate you taking the time to give it a look. I'll keep plugging along, and if you (or anyone on the forum) has a request, let me know. I still have a lot of material to add, but I bump up pieces if I know someone is wanting something specific.
