Thread: Google doesnt like DHTML?

    Google doesnt like DHTML?

I stared myself allmost blind now on my website. I read almost all the threads on the Google forum, tweaked and tweaked, but something is off on my website.

I rank poorly and I will not show up under my keywords (kiosk, internet Kiosk, etc ) in Google.

At one point my site-map got indexed; ever since then Google doesnt seem to touch all my inbound links from my homepage anymore. Google only crawls the first page and doesnt include it in its search.

If I type my site name in www.surferquest.com my site is there, with a bunch of links too.

So, to keep a long story short. What are we doing wrong??

You should test your site while you disable both JavaScript and cookie. When both are disabled, the top navigation bar disappears; this is not good because ...

    1. If the user disables JavaScript and cookie, he/she can't really navigate your site.

    2. Search engines do not follow links created using JavaScript, thus number of pages will not get indexed.

That shouldn't create a problem for spiders, though - there is another menu spiders can read as well as a text link to the sitemap at the bottom of the page.

Your home page has a PageRank of 3 - not terrible but suggesting that more incoming links would be helpful. Most of the links to your home page that I could find seem to be internal links from your own site - some of the others I looked at were in the Google cache but no longer on the site, meaning the link on that site has dropped your URL for some reason.

Thank you for taking the time trying to help me. I appreciate!

Yeah, I made an extra text site-map link because I learned through this forum that spiders ignore java-links.

So I guess you guys couldnt see a reason either why Google doesnt spider past the first page ?
I know my first page is rather long, could that be a reason?

Your page IS very long and more importantly there are many many lines of code (menus and other scripts) that the spider has to read before it gets to any of your actual page content. Taking that out and using some sort of include file might help. I didn't see anything else that jumped out at me as a major problem...

But I would also worry about your disappearing backlinks - why is that happening? It looks as thought these might have paid links that you have since stopped paying for? If so, you need to get additional more permanent links or your PR will drop further and there have been suggestions in various forums that Google does not crawl as deeply in to lower PR sites.
