    Re: Joomla 1.5.4 Problem

Hi I am a new to this forum. I have been hunting for a way to get back into my administrator section. I noticed that leftinc you said the following:

I don't have any experience on upgrading, but I have had a situation where Joomla (1.5.3) all of a sudden didn't recognize my admin login. I couldn't log into the back end, as there is no link there to re-send a password.

However, I was able to go to the site (the front-end) and try to log in using my username and have a new password emailed to me. That worked out and I was able to use that new password to get into the backend.

I know how to get into the backend, but how did you manage to get your password emailed to you? I have tried all sorts of ways, from copying and pasting the password - to changing the jo_pluggins, and jo_user - but this didn't help, so I have changed them back again. I have another Joomla website and that is fine so I went in there and made sure that everything was the same and still it didn't make any difference. I am just wondering if this is the answer - emailing yourself the password?

I will give anything ago - I am just so frustrated and as you can see, I am still up in the UK trying to figure it out. Once I have written this though I think I had better get some sleep.

Please email me back. Get me out of this misery of not being able to get into the administrator's area to keep on designing.

    Hi Bobkom,

Thanks for replying back to my post made last week. I did go to a MD5 - Online generator md5 hash, but that didn't work either to get me back into the the administrator. However, I spoke to someone who uses Joomla, and they wondered if some passwords are set up to not continue after period of time, so it forces people to change so no one can find out what it is. I don't know but one plausible way.

However, what I did do was get in touch with the hosting company and ask them to re-instate me back into the administration end. I asked them too to check some of the jos_pluggins just in case something wasn't right there. They did this for me and answered quite rapidly.

I think in future I will ask them to do this if it happens again - not wishing for it to happen again obviously. But if anyone has a great hosting company, my suggestion is that you get in touch with them before looking into the jos_pluggins. I have noticed that even though people said that the super administration should be 26, that my other joomla websites no is 25. It works well and is doing all that I have implemented so far.

    Thanks again Bobkom.

    All the best

Who sets the super user to 25?

Does anybody else realize there were 24 mistakes made before they realized they needed a superuser?
