    Arrow Image Rollovers

hi, im redesigning a site i have, and i have a few images id like to use as rollovers eg you mouse over and they go from colour to black and white. The problem I have is, that firefox views them ok but ie7 blocks it for security settings. I have put them in as interactive images via dreamweaver, just wondered if theres a better and just as easy way for all browsers to view? They are also hyperlinks.

I agree. CSS rollovers do not create the amount of "code bloat" that javascript does, especially if you put most of the code in an external file.

Another nice thing about CSS rollovers is that you are just dealing with background images and you can then have a menu built with nothing more than an unordered list of links.

And if you want the text on the images like an old school rollover, you can do that too, you just have to drop in a transparent gif instead of text and do a different style for each button.

    I second that...or third...whatever...CSS rollovers.

better search engine visibility, CSS rollovers should be more accessible, less bloat, faster load time, and so on.

I'm a fan of this site. This guy has a bunch of examples of very light-weight CSS navigation. I think everything is a simple UL. Some have very creative effects. I think a couple cover image-swapping via CSS.

Eric Meyer has a couple of CSS books and some stuff on his site meyerweb.com that might be good.

Dreamweaver is known to blot your code unnecessarily.
