Hi everyone,
Can I have some opinions on the value of doing automatic search engine submissions. Also if it is a good idea how often should one submit the same site?
Thanks so much,

Hi, there is no need to submit any site to a Search Engine. All the majors have spiders that crawl the Internet. Once a URL is in the public domain - ie in a forum sig link or in the site review section it will get crawled.
Thanks ctabuk,
That was was I was thinking but I keep looking at these SEO software programs and they all usually have this as one of their great features. Is this just a scam or are these programs really worth the money?
ctbak is right. There's no point in using submission software. The spiders will find you and include you in the SERPs authomatically. You can also end up with a slew of useless FFA submissions that do you no good whatsoever.
However, it's useful to manually subit to directories, particularly those that relate to your line of business. There can be (usually a modest) charge, but many of them will list you for free. Just search Google etc., for them.
The benefit here is that the spiders notice that you have a number of links (and sometimes they have to be reciprocal ones) that, as it were, increase the authority of your site.
