I agree 110% the algo has changed and we are seeing a lot of movement on sites that have not been touched and have the no follow tag.

The only reason to use the tag is for the SEO’s, there is not benefit to the site visitor in using the no follow tag.

The issue is that if you spend an hour trying to manipulate PR in this manner you are most likely find better benefits spending that hour doing almost anything else.. Getting one decent link, writing one page of decent content, altering on page text, anything.. But in a highly competitive market, where sites are nearly evenly matched, that little bit of boost you might get from trying to manipulate your PR might be that last piece of the puzzle that puts you ahead of them..

That's why I call it a 4th or 5th tier tactic.. There are plenty of things you could do that will give you more positive results quicker than manipulating PR..
Best post in the whole thread, spend your time on something else.

    Another update:

The keywords I recently experienced an increase in the serps with have now returned to normal. And as of thismorning, my main term 'business for sale' in google.com has fallen from #5 to #12 (have been #5 for many months).

This is the 3rd time my site has been spidered since implementing the changes (removing of rel="nofollow" and meta nofollows)

I will just sit tight for a couple of weeks and see if things go back, if not, should I put things back the way they were????

No one can give a definite answer. I noticed since the beginning of June significant changes in the SERPs. There must have been some new tweaks released and I am sure that a mass of IBLs have dropped. In other words Google also have updated the IBLs. I have a new customer that had over 180000 IBLS and the dropped beginning of this month to something like 72000 over night.

I am very happy that my site and of my customers I am taking care of have experienced a boost in rankings and which seem to be stable.

Maybe it is time to revise your SEO strategies and stay up to date with big daddy Google.

From tracking clients' sites, along with those of their competitors, I've noticed an unusually large amount of volatility in the no. of IBLs reported over the past several weeks.

    That is what matters most.

IBL's have not changed much, IMO, what seems to have changed is the visibility of garbage inbounds. Which would also explain the drop from 180k to 72k.
