Adding A Search Word To Index Title

The website is just over a year old and has been listed #1 on the big 3 from the beginning for the two word search in it's domain name. I have been told recently by friends in the industry that most people would use another search word along with the domain name for searches. It would be easy adding the other search word to the title on the index page but how would that effect the website listings for the 2 word search? Should I just rename a sub page for the 3 word search or add the term to the text on the index page? It is not a very competitive category and the few competitors that show up for the 3 word searches are listed with sub pages.
