Article vs blog

As we all know, that Articles and blogs both are the valuable terms in regards to Search Engine optimization.
they both having their own importance when it comes to SEO, but what you think which one is most important over other ?

is it feasible to posting blogs rather then articles or vice versa ? which of these two having an upper hand when we talk about the global accessibility of them........?

IMO:

Articles and blogs are two different tools and I dont think you can have a verses, its a bit like saying is my racing car better with brakes or steering.

I prefer blog. A blog with a good post can attract visitors.

I think as both are valuable SEO, the deciding factor should be the way in which you write your articles. If the articles are more descriptive or advice-giving, maybe you should go with articles submissions. If you want more interaction from your readers, blog. Or maybe both: write articles AND blog in the same time. Like I do

There is one BIG difference, and that is that most Blog software allows you to PING the update services when you post new content on a blog. So from the point of view of SEO, I'll post as a blogpost every time, since every time I do I'm adding one way inbound links to my site, and to that article in particular. And using tagging I have a very targeted focus, perfect for SEM. Then there are all my subscribers. If I post on the blog, I'll have a flurry of traffic in via subscriptions.

It doesn't matter much to the search engines whether you call it a blogpost or an article. What counts is INBOUND LINKS which are tied through the kind of targeted linktext you get with Tagging.

I am very new to SEO and have found this site to be a great resource. I have started to write a Squido Lens and am not sure if this is a blog or an article? Also it asks about having an RSS fead and am not sure what this means.

Any answers would be appreciated.

Still articles have their strong points too. With the main articles directories, your articles may be picked up by hundreds of publishers, so instead of having one IBL per post per service you might get a lot more IBLs. I know that with the blog you have subscribers but still ...

There's also different style of writing. With the blog you go "hey buddy, guess what I found this morning?", with the articles you usually go a little bit more "academic" ... imho.

Article promotion was quite popular prior to 2005. Article promotion has suffered a major set back due to duplicate content issues.

Take for example, I wrote unique article ( visible on my site), and I submitted this article to 25 article sites.

Now if google crawls any one of these article sites before your website, then it is highly likely that google will perceive them as duplicate.

Moreover certain article sites do not allow you to include an active link, which could prove detrimental to your rankings.

Google might feel that you ( originator) have copied content from some article website. If an article site is pointing back to your link, even then having 100 same articles with author link pointing to same website could trigger GOOGLE ALARM.

It is best to play safe and rely on RSS blog promotion, and always abstain from giving out whole content within <description> element within your RSS feeds. Only give out synopsis of your blog text within <description> text. There are RSS hijack scripts which can suck your RSS elements, and display them exactly on other sites.

You can try making your site more helpful, and I am sure several websites will subscribe to your RSS feeds. This is far much better than using article promotion technique.

Why do you need to differentiate between the two. Put your articles on your blog and let them work together.
