    The Quest for Links

I am looking for suggestions on how to get quality links to my website. Any suggestions for directories or places that would be interested in linking to a corporate software development company's website?

I have a business web site, so a link exchange isn't really suitable. Our site needs to be about our products. The only outside links we have are to those we do business with.

Any and all help is always appreciated.

The only places that will link to you without a link back are various directories and the search engines because their about providing listings to gain viewers searching for information, etc.

If you want links from other sites that will add to your inbound links, you need to give something back. No one's gonna give you a link for free on their sites if you don't give something back. You either trade links or pay to have links on their site.

Yeah, I'm aware of this. Unreciprocated links are going to be hard to come by. I was thinking along the lines of directories. I am hoping some of the forum members can recommend some directories (other than the obvious ones I've already submitted to, such as DMOZ).

I suppose we are willing to reciprocate links, all you need to do is invest in some of our software :)

One of the moderators or MVP's on this site, Fathom, I think, has a web site with virtually all directories on it, paid and unpaid. Try to find him or maybe the moderator here can give you a hand finding him. Check out the site. Some are good, some are too specialized and some are just plain old, but there are at least 20-30 that you can add a link to.

Hi Jared, the answer to links is to think of it as PR (Public Relations). How would a company get itself into the press? Same ideas apply to getting a company mentioned in other publications (including the media of the web).

Offering a prize/competition to third-party competitions sites or online media sites will always get you a link, of course, but not for free.

Sponsoring and supporting local events and charities can get you mentioned (and linked to) in their website, and mentioned in local blogs and sites too of course.

Links are publicity, and that means giving people something to say about you - something that they want to tell others about you (with that link).

If selected judicously, reciprocal links can be a great asset to a business website over and above the ranking and traffic benefits. For instance, a real estate site can provide links to mortgage brokerage sites and vice-versa. An SEO services site can swap links with quality web hosting sites (your own web host is a good place to start).

Linking to sites that offer goods or services that compliment yours (but don't compete with them) is just good business because it adds value to your own goods or services. If done properly, this linking strategy will give your site an edge over your competition.

    Hi
you can do a simple search in Google for +"software development" +"add url" or +"add link" or +"submit url" and you will get a lote of sites to submit your site
You can submit an article or paricipate in forums dealing with software

    Good luck
