Submitted url for removal still shows pending status

I submitted 63 urls for removal in webmaster tool. To block a page
from google bot, one of the following things should be done as per
    google:

    # Make sure the content is no longer live on the web. Requests for the
page or image you want to remove must return an HTTP 404 (not found)
    or 410 status code.
    # Block the content using a meta noindex tag.
    # Block the content using a robots.txt file.

I made robots.txt and blocked by disallowing them. I submitted them 3
days back but still the status shows pending. When it will be removed?

    Your help is urgently needed.

Your answer is available in Google's webmaster help...

How can I remove my content from the Google index?

Is the answer really in the Google help page ?

I think that we need at least one of these 63 URL's to be able to help.

Yes. From that page, second paragraph...

However, if you need to make an urgent request for your content to be removed from the Google index and cannot wait until the next time we crawl your site, you can expedite the process by using the URL removal request tool in our Google webmaster tools. This process usually takes 3-5 business days.
    My bolding.

I found that using the meta noindex and a direct link in the page to the robots.txt file allowed for my pages to be removed within 3 days. Also type the URL in Google to see if it's been removed, don't just rely on the tool.

I had a problem about a year ago, where I needed a page removed. It took Google about 2 weeks for it to fall out of the listings.

It will happen. You just may have to wait a few days.

    Good luck!!

We did tried and it works perfect. Make sure your deleted pages return a 404 error when accessed.

You can try resubmitting them again as well.

Re: Submitted url for removal still shows pending status

I used the robots meta for noindex with all the pages I wanted removed as empty pages. It took about a month for over 200 pages to be removed.

The problem with blocking in the robots.txt file is that the page will not be crawled on the current visit so the meta noindex command will never be seen.

If the page still exists, google will keep it in the index if anything links to it for as long as the page exists on your website. the robots.txt and robots meta are disobeyed by many search engines.

Giving a 404 response does not always help either - the 410 response helps get a page removed quicker - you are still looking at anything up to 3 months depending on how often the URL is requested by the bots. try submitting the URL to help the SEs find the gone status sooner.
