If your business relies on a search engines organic rankings for it's existence, then your half way out of business.

Free organic lisyings are not a substitute for marketing as stated above.

Direct mail using post cards to you client database can work. Many times the cost of printing the post cards and postage is less than the costs of adwords.

You can also use the money that you were spending on links for a targeted ppc campaign on adwords or overture.

so its been a few days and no one has any idea how google can tell a paid link from a free link???? Has anyone from Google posted any real info on this, (real meaning something specific, not just "we are so smart that we can tell when its paid")

I think its really obvious that they have no way to tell if its a paid link unless your site says its a paid link. And to me its obvious that its mostly a tactic used to get us to be afraid to pay for links and just send them the money every month for adwords. Isn't it a bit odd that they don't want you paying for links, but when you sign up with adwords, you are ......paying THEM for links....

Any thoughts?
