Generic domain names boost auction yield--China Net Technology Limited
Domain name news brought to you by China Net Technology Limited
After a flurry of recent domain name sales, the dust has settled on September yields, with domain name aggregator GreatDomains recently announcing that it has enjoyed a stellar selling period.
Faring well at its September Premium Auction Event, Great Domains claimed that thanks to sales of top monikers - generic domain names high among them - the auction served to raise over half a million dollars.
Among the top sellers were a series of lucrative generic domain names, with Track.com selling for as much as $100,000 and trading off the attractive product-specificity of its name.
Meanwhile FederalGrants.com, at $76,100, was also a top performer, bringing in buyers looking to kick-start e-business through a memorable name, while portals.com also generated one of the bigger sales.
While buyers may need no encouragement before investing in a generic domain name, GreatDomains did this year introduce new measures for the auction, in order to facilitate buying.
For the first time, the domain name aggregator claimed that it revealed its reserve ranges to prospective buyers, allowing those interested to identify acquisition targets more efficiently.
