Smile Help with my IFRAME problem

Hi - I'm tackling something that is a bit complicated for me really.

I have several link images that appear in an IFRAME which when clicked open up a page where a large image is displayed. The user can then choose another link image from the IFRAME to load another page with a different large image.

The problem is that when the page with the large image loads, it jumps down a little as if it's anchored and I want the page to load properly with the scrollbar at the top not a little way down. I know that the large image is coded as an anchor, so presumeably this is why its jumping down the screen a bit. Is there a better way to do that rather than point to an anchor?

Also, of course, the IMFRAME is positioned back at the top as it would be because obviously its a new page loading. Can I fix it so that the IFRAME presents already anchored lower if say the user has clicked on the bottom link image?

There may be a much better way of doing this. In fact I'm sure there is, but I've tried all sorts of things.

I tried the show-hide layer thing in Dreamweaver, but then the client decided to add loads of link images so that I had to do it as an iframe in the end because we had to scroll so that messed up the whole show-hide function.

I know its a bit of a big one... Any ideas?

Not sure I understood the problem you are experiencing - at least, I was not able to replicate the problem I think you are reporting...

I tested the linked page in Firefox and IE under Vista, and in both browsers when I click on any of the images the IFRAME is scrolled all the way to the top, on the subsequent page. Is it that this not the desired result, or are you having different results on another platform (ie Mac/Linux)?

Re: Open Cube dropdown menu problem (previously an IFRAME problem thread!)

    Hi Wige

I didn't really want the IFRAME to be scrolled to the top when the page reloaded, but I don't think I can get round that.

I decided to investigate the Show_Hide Layers option in Dreamweaver once again.

I got a good result ... Bespoke kitchens designed by David Haugh : Tunbridge Wells, Kent
but now I am experiencing my OpenCube Dropdown menu isn't interacting very well with the scrollbar area. It seems to be shunting it downwards when it is activated.

So now this is a completely different problem!!

Re: Help with my IFRAME problem

The menu shunting down problem only happens with IE (I'm using V7). It's OK on FF, Safari and Opera. Just another IE bug! It looks like you're using a third party Javascript menu script. Suggest you talk to whoever produced it about the IE problem.

The page loads extremely slowly. Those pictures must be huge.

Your source code is untidy. If you put all the css and Javascript into files, it'll load faster and be easier to debug.

Rather than using an iframe, I would use a scrollable div for that function.

What happens to the poor user who has Javascript disabled?
