my first real success with google ( #1! )

i have been tweaking my website now for 2-3 weeks for higher ranking in google, i am ranked #1 for one of my keywords "Working German Shepherd" however I am nowhere to be seen for my other three keywords which are "German Shepherd" "German Shepherd Dogs" and "Schutzhund"

Looking through my top 10 competitions for my other three unlisted keywords, it seems impossible to beat them as their pagerank are plus 5 and MINE IS ONLY 1 !!!

i'm in the process of improving my pagerank, links, contents etc

how long do you think my number 1 position will last for "working german shepherd" ?

    Regards,

    Leonardo

For "Working German Shepherd" (without the quotation marks), Google shows about 162,000 entries.

For "Working German Shepherd" (without the quotation marks), Google shows about 317,000 entries.

For "German Shepherd" (without the quotation marks), Google shows about 971,000 entries.

For "Schutzhund" (without the quotation marks), Google shows about 144,000 entries.

So, depending on which search phrase you decide to optimize for, you have more or less competition for those terms.

But, the bottom line is what is going to get people to your website? Will people actually type the phrase "working german shepherd" into the search box? If so, you're looking good. If not, ranking #1 for that term really won't help you.

As a side note, I'm nopt a big fan of German Shepherds, but I had never even heard of a "schutzhund" until today - it sounds like the kind of thing someone would shout out just before a bar fight...

It depends if your site is new or not.
If its new it should fall in next few days (or weeks). If its not then (besides algo changes which are unpredictable) it should stay high. Congratulations :-)

    4 keywords.....top 5 rankings.....is it possible?

Thanks for your enlightenment minstrel, the 4 keywords are actually related to one another so top 5 rankings of each one would be more than terrific. I am very happy with #1 position with “working german shepherd” as this keyword is my number one priority. Is it possible to have top 5 rankings with the following…..

    . Working german shepherd
    . German shepherd
    . German shepherd dog
    . Schutzhund

Or do you think I am being greedy? Or my page rank has to be from 8 + with half of the globe linked to my website.

In conclusions, your comments regarding “schutzhund” made me chuckled and a little bewildered as I was expecting you would at least heard of this word or know a little, for someone of your high intellect. Don’t get me wrong but you are notorious in this message board, not to mention killer tips.

Also thanks for your tip (adore)

    Regards to all

Notorious, eh? Sounds sorta like "Wanted! Dead or Alive!"... ;o)

As for being greedy for hoping to be in the top 5 for 4 keyphrases - not at all - and no, you don't need to be PR8.

I've worked over the past 3 or 4 years (largely through trial and error while learning how to do it) to get into the top 5 for 4 keyphrases which are in my opinion the most likely to get me hits for my area and profession - I succeeded at that with PR4, which recently increased to PR5. Now I'm working on trying to get in the top 10-15 for other keyphrases that I previosuly saw as less critical but I'd still like to improve my ranking for them...

And as for schutzhund, do I get points for having heard of sweinhund? (spelling?) or "nicht en der wagon spuken"? :-)

It also depends on GPR of your competitors. We are trying for one GPR5 website competing with many GPR6 to 8 websites and it seems that increasing GPR may be the only way there.

Other website has GPR4 and most of the competitors are in the 3 to 5 range. Hit first page for several terms relatively easily.

The terms for the firs website are only slightly more competitive - say 600 000, the second website 200 000.

try giving the heading of your page in bold letters 24 font "german sheperds" and see if that makes a difference - as i had one keyword showing up with out any content on that page except the title. :-)

That won't help - spiders don't see attributes like color or size - only the text.

Putting it inside <H1> </H1> tags might help a bit...
