An update: Google's wireless strategy starts to take root

"In a potentially big breakthrough, Verizon Wireless said this past week that it would use Google's Android software on some of its devices, while unconfirmed reports indicate the Internet-search giant could soon enter a relationship with AT&T Inc."

Been waiting to finally see this phone. Hopefully, this will gain popularity and help draw more developers into the Android application market, which has been one of the few detractors in the Android vs iPhone debate.

    Re: The mobile revolution

I've been thinking about this for some time now and have ideas but have to implement it. The way that I see it, mobile phones (I have one and think they're great) still have certain limitations on screen size and the ability to type fast. Assuming, for the near future at least, that that is a given, what are the ramifications for e-commerce?

Well, much in the same way that the calculator function on a mobile phone does not replace EXCEL; the checkout process is still going to be relatively difficult to get through while using a mobile phone, between formatting issues, secure servers, going in and out of reception areas, relatively slower connections, I'm wondering if a 'mobile friendly' website should simply resort to the very technology sitting in the user's hands-the cell phone itself.

I'm thinking along the lines of:

    1. A website with relatively small pictures
    2. A website with a minimum of text
    3. It must scroll easily 'top to bottom'
    4. The call to action should be 'Call to Order' - text to a friend, e-mail to a friend.
    5. The .mobi version of the site should link to your more robust 'desktop version' .com website

What is the community's thoughts on this?

    Hello

Thank you very much for your great information. Today, Mobiles have now become a necessity. It is the part of communication. It's very importance in the market. Mobile stores in India are growing amazingly. Not only mobile is enough for us, chargers, batteries, handsets, speakers, voice mail and many more is important for you. I really like this information.
