Supplemental Indexing in UK Only Pages

Hi

I have recently upgraded my shopping cart software and redesigned the site accordingly. Theres still a bit to do so I know not all links are working etc but I am about 90% there.

The new site has been live about 1 month and Google has started to index pages OK (most are old urls with new content). However there is one strange anomaly which I dont understand and hope someone here can shed light.

If I do a site: search on Google UK I get 285 pages indexed - see here http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en...e+Search&meta=

If I do the same search with "pages from the uk" checked I get 40 results and ALL supplemental see here http://www.google.co.uk/search?num=1...UK%7CcountryGB

Most of the supplemental results are correctly listed as supplemental, redundant pages after the update, some duplicates/similar products etc. I dont have a problem with the 40 that are listed.

What I dont understand is why are the supplemental pages the ONLY ones listed on uk only pages? What hapened to all the other non supplemental pages listed on Gogle UK?

You answered yourself earlier in the post

The new site has been live about 1 month

Google will update again at the end of June and should have the rest of the pages supplemental by then.

Takes them time but they will tank all those dupes and such as you acknowledged honestly should be.

Rare quality that being honest...especially amongst webmasters.

Are you saying that by June all of the pages currently in the Google Uk index will be supplemental?

I do not understand. Are the pages in the supplemental results outdated or duplicated pages? Why don't you get rid of them?

Its too long a story to go into but they will be deleted shortly.The supplemental pages are mainly junk left over from the update. My concern is not with the pages listed in the uk only supplemental pages but why are they the ONLY pages listed when uk pages is selected?

There are 285 pages indexed in google UK so that leaves another 245 that are not appearing in Google uk pages only searches. Why are they not appearing in the uk pages only index?

Is it just a time thing?

I am not sure if I understand what you mean.

I had a quick look, and I have noticed that the pages which are in the supplemental results, are not linked from somewhere.

Looks like you have for several pages a lack of quality backlinks.

Why don't you create an RSS feed and submit it to RSS directories. Did you also consider doing social bookmarking?

Could be a good start.

I think this is about the site: command only returning supplemental results in Google when "pages from the UK" is selected. I don't think its anything to worry about, it is happening with all the websites I have tried, including Google! Smaller sites I have checked return primary and supplemental when I do the web search, then return only the supplementals when I do a UK search. I doubt its effecting search, but hopefully something that will be fixed soon...

Are you sure you have no issues that can trigger filters? Could it be that you are penalized?

The site is as clean as a whistle as far as I know. Its new upgraded software, mainly old content that has been added to new pages (original pages mainly deleted now), lots of new pages, cleaner design etc etc.

The main issues are:

1 Supplemental pages only appearing in Google UK when uk only pages is selected - why?

2 Some pages in supplemental index show PR and some grey bar - whats the difference?

3 Some pages in supplemental are new and have lots of info - why in supplemental?

4 Today my home page does not show in searches for "Indian food" where it usually does on Google UK

Have I been penalised? What for? If you have any idea it would help!
