    Did we do something wrong?

    Hi Guys,

Looks like we lost a major keyword and was wondering if we had done something wrong. Would be really appreciated if anybody would be kind enough to take a look.

The site is milonic.com and the keyword we lost is menu. I know this keyword is hugely competitive but we have been number one on this word for several years now. Using google.com, from a US IP Address, we are now on around page 46 and this happened in the last month or so.

Do you think it's back link quality or have we done something wrong and against big G's TOS?

We are current;y redesigning the site and the content is quite old now so would obviously like to apply any changes to the new site.

Please let me know if there is anything we can do in return for you checking our site.

    Many thanks,
    Andy

    Hi

    Very nice site.

Why you lost your rankings...in all honesty you do not have menus for people to read.

If you look at the sites that come up when you input the term menu, 90% are restaurants.

You are not, so Google just made things a bit more relevant.

No hard feelings it's just business.

I agree with the search engines that your website might not be ideal for the keyword "menu". Sure it makes sense, but the search engines job is try (its hardest, lol) to present websites matching keyword meanings of the majority of the searchers. Plus why would you worry about this keyword anyways? How much of this traffic do you think really converted considering most were probably looking for restaurant menus?

Now with that being said, you could get this ranking back with some powerful link building. Have you considered that the links you had pointing you could have possibly changed, disappeared or were just generally lowered in G weight?

Also have you made design changes and used 301 redirects from the old pages to the new?

Like SemAdvance and incrediblehelp said, "menu" is probably not the best keyword for your site although it is relevant.

Doing a search on Google I got mostly restaurant sites mixed with a few DHTML or JS menu sites also using the keyword "menu".

I don't want to continue saying I agree, but incrediblehelp has given some good ideas.

Doing a search for the keyword "menus" shows your site listed at #3.

Perhaps you can also add the word "menu" in singular form to your title tag.

Change it from "Milonic DHTML and JavaScript Website Navigation Menus" to "Milonic DHTML menu and JavaScript Website Navigation Menus"

    Hope it helps
