Actually my information went to the real Victoria Brink. Instead of another phone call I looked her up through Prudential and sent her a email notifying her that her name and business was being used.

Good luck Greg, I do not work for any of those companies, i'm simply a satisfied client, and they have done me several phrases and i've written testimonials, referred my friends, and i do not appreciate you bashing one of the few legitimate companies thats out there today. You will never win a class action suit against these companies because i know for a fact that they actually work quite hard to satisfy clients and deliver results. You've got some nerve. An admitted liar and you want to tell me I know nothing about marketing? My company has been around since 1988, has hundreds of offices in the U.S. Canada, and Europe, has never had one law suit, has had the same name since then, and I can promise you has never had anything but an A rating with the BBB. Not one of your companies can say that. I have forgotten more about any type of marketing than you will ever know.

As far as the law suit for every one pretend person (suchs as yourself) that says they are happy with any of the OTF companies. I will have 5 legit companies testify how they were ripped off!

In case anyone is wondering, when you go to www.alexa.com and check out PRT's various websites (hard to keep them all straight), and this includes the main website for their bogus toolbar, you find that the actual traffic to those sites is so low it is immeasurable.

So how could there possibly be 14 million downloads (is that they are up to now? Can't keep that straight, either), when there's been NO TRAFFIC since the thing came out exactly one year ago?

The COO of PRT is a guy named Warren Wise. Funny, I just found a still unpaid judgment for over $200,000 against him in a lawsuit from ten years ago. Naughty, naughty!!!

The latest news is that alwaysonthelookout has just about nailed the entire story, if you go back to page one of this thread.

Apparently, the toolbar/keyword concept was developed by John Sloatman of Webmenu.

Charles Lloyd, who is behind the MySpace Guardian Toolbar, was apparently either kicked out of the company or left. Apparently, it was a bitter breakup and the accusation some have made is that Lloyd stole this technology.

This explains why the poster who is impersonating Vicky Brink, homesnland68, has accused many of us for working for Webmenu and derided their operation. This leads me to believe that homesnland68 may very well be Charles Lloyd himself.

So we have Webmenu who "legitimately" licenses the technology to others, such as StarPosition. Whether or not they have a network as large as they claim and generate organic hits or not is another discussion, although I would caution anyone to 100% verify an claim made.

Meanwhile, Lloyd is apparently the guy behind all the companies One Top Firm, Surfspeak, Simply Voice and so on. Every time they get an F rating, the companies get dumped and a new one pops up.

The latest is Portal Response Technology. The difference this time is that Warren Wise (the COO) and Ron Lightstone (CEO) are involved. Although they've claimed to have spent 'millions" on the toolbar, I think any software developer knows that such a claim is probably significantly exaggerated. Also, the claim of 14 million toolbars after being around only 16 months seems highly questionable. Clearly, they are attempting to create a legitimate network by preying on the fears associated with MySpace.

It does appear that Lloyd is the same Charles Lloyd that was nailed by the FTC for a medical billing scam and the FTC settled with him. His partners in this new operation, PBH LLC (which stands for Perkins, Brinson, Ho) have previously released other software, one of which was called ClearSearch and IGetNet and was identified by these websites as being spyware:

And many others....

So we have Lloyd, an FTC defendant and alleged thief, and PBH, a spyware producer partnering on a toolbar that may very well be violating a trademark (MySpace), working with Warren Wise, who owes $200,000 in unpaid judgments, sellling keywords that many people here believe were fraudulently sold to them.

I think the saddest things are that Lloyd appears to be 36 years old, meaning he was nailed by the FTC at age 31, and may have started the billing scam as early as his late 20's. How could someone have gone so wrong at so young an age? Couldn't have he used his resourcefulness to make an honest living instead of the apparently questionable one he is doing now?

And what about Warren Wise, age 64? Is this the only way to secure a nice retirement? And what of Ron Lightstone? This fellow is an entertainment luminary, who has held top posts at major media corporations. What is he doing getting mixed up in something like this?

It's a sad thing all around, especially since the FTC, AG, and class action are coming down the pike.
