    Nokia Eases The Pain For C And Linux Developers

    WebProNews blog partner Glenn Letham posted on some news that should be of great interest to developers of mobile apps:

    If you develop application and program in C or Linux then your gonna love the new SDKs just released by Forum Nokia.

    The Open C plug-ins have been developed to ease the migration pains typically experienced by developers looking to port their apps to a mobile environment.

    I think the excerpt that drives it all home is,
    With its market share exceeding 55 percent globally... Millions of S60 devices compatible with Open C technology have already been shipped. To date, 49 device models based on S60 and Symbian OS have been launched, and 20 of them are based on the latest S60 3rd Edition.
    That, plus the fact that the plug-in "allows developers with little or no Symbian C++ development experience to create components for application that will run on S60 3rd Edition devices", sure seems to give Open C SDK the appearance of a goose that lays golden eggs for app programmers.

    Nice indeed. Worth taking a look at...
