    OK, Let me have it.

I have put my website up to celebrate the area that I live in, which is The Rio Grande Valley. I would like to get some honest input on it. The website is www.rgvpride.com

    Shannon,

its not an 'exciting' site, but there is nothing wrong with it IMHO. One small point, you need to either make the menu buttons shorter, or widen the left border 'cos they stick out and you can see white at the rounded ends.

The site appears clean and does what it says on the tin. I wouldn't vote as 'sink'!

(HTML validator throws up numerous odd warnings, plus on some pages errors)

    Cheers

    Shannon,

You need to resave your nav buttons without a white background. They will look OK after you do that.

    Externalize the javascript and CSS.

    Looks good. Swim.

    Shannon -

One improvement tweak -- add a series of text links at the bottom of every page with common utilities (e.g. privacy policy, about us, etc.) and duplicates of your main navigational bar.

This helps users who find themselves at the bottom of pages and can also be an SEO assist in some cases. You'd also want to add your copyright statement here.

Also, consider consolidating all your RSS buttons with www.addthis.com. It will offer your readers +20 RSS subscribe options ... while only requiring you to have one clean button. I use it on my site if you want to see it in action.

    Good luck!

Additionally, your "what's an RSS feed?" link produces a 403 error.

I would add to the comments above that on the calendar page, you have "50 things to do in the Rio Grande Valley". In Firefox, the spacing varies between towns.

    Good luck.

Thank you for your feedback. Sadly, most of what your telling me is currently beyond my knowledge. As I learn more, I will come across the answers.

    Thanks again.

I grew up in the valley, brings back lots of memories. The site has great potential and you're on the way to making a great content site - content is king!

I think many people will like it indeed.

Sure, it needs a tweak here and there but do a little research and you will catch on. Your using an online site builder so your limited but not totally =)

    Good job - Swim!
